But a Bowling Bag is so much more than a Bowling Bag

As I walked up to my ten-pin lane I saw red wine in a clear solo cup. I wondered what on earth could have been bad enough to order the Carlos Rossi served at the bowling alley... As famously stated, "Smokey, this is not 'Nam. This is bowling. There are rules. " And the rules are champagne of beers, as far as I'm concerned.

Ahoy, little did I know. I'm surprised this has never occurred to me - insulating one of those buggers could be very convenient. Infamous schemes by an "anonymous" relative: enjoying french wine with their turkey.

New Year's Resolution

I sent this photo to Allie earlier this month as a workout-inducer. For those of you with resolutions, keep it up; for me, it's week three of marathon training. I'm looking forward to Angela's version 2.0 of 100-mile-March again this year. (Image Source)

Beer Scouts

I've posted about Untappd before - it's the mobile app that allows you to check into the beers you drink. It tracks and trends your brew intake, and you get badges for certain feats. For example, having a beer on your birthday gets you the birthday badge. Having 10 beers from the same brewery within 30 days earns you the brewery loyalist badge. Check in to a beer on a boat and you'll display the Ahoy Matey! badge.

Anyway, a few Saturdays ago there was a brewfest to support the Pittsburgh Rugby team. Allie and I snagged last minute tickets, and headed down to enjoy the fun. However not to ever just be normal, with the fantastic help of my Mum and her sewing machine, we wore homemade sashes of some of our Untappd badges - we were Beer Scouts.

Some people thought we were funny. Others had no clue - allowing us to make quite a few friends.

Currently I'm at ~910 unique beers on Untappd. My goal is to hit 1000 by Memorial Day 2013 - we'll see, considering training for the half marathon is taking its toll on the amount of time I spend out. I feel like I'm running out of unique options here in western PA and will need to splurge on a west coast brewfest trip in order to make it feasible.

Holiday Cards...

... are hilarious. And I promise this will be my last holiday post.

Thanks Great Lakes Brewing!

Thanks others! (Those of you who sent non-folding cards are mostly on my fridge)

Of course, I made a few home made ones this year too. I did a big post on them last year, but this year I'm only going to show one. You should be on the card list if you want to see the rest!

Creative Gifting

Awesome home-made scrabble drink coasters made for me by my creative sister. Love this.

And my Aunt Jul, a regular on this blog, made candy dishes out of old records. Mine is "beer and brass in bavaria". How perfect? I hope that is on iTunes as well.

Ugly Sweaters

...my Grandma had these in her closet. As my Uncle Michael put it, "The bad part is she didn't buy these because they were ugly."

Haha my siblings are such good sports.
