And so I learn I love Thai food

Allie and I went out for Date Night last week and I had a pumpkin curry dish. I didn't order it quite spicy enough but it was delish.

Truth, and there is no easier time to wake up for the gym than daylight savings week.  Also I have no idea who created this originally so I cannot credit my sources.

Happy hour on north park lake

My grandmother and I tried out the new OTB Boathouse Bar as a birthday celebration. The views and beer selection were stunning. Gorgeous fall day.

Home Brewing - SPF 50 (A Pale Ale)

This post is long overdue. With the assistance of the expertise of my parent's neighbor, Mark, a homebrewing event was scheduled in July. Mark scaled a recipe in the style of Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale that we then brewed for a delicious turnout.

10 US gallons

10 lbs 2 row pale malt

10 lbs lite Munich malt

1lb crystal malt 40 lov (color spec)

1/2 lb Victory malt

1oz Columbus hops bittering - 60 min

1oz Chinook hops - 30 min

1oz Centennial hops - at knockout
75 minute mash at 155 deg

60 to 70 min boil

California ale yeast

Fomulated OG = 1.058

Expected FG = 1.012

Expected ABV = 6.00%

Expected IBU = 55

Plus my favorite part of all, the bottles, which I decorated with black-light fluorescent markers:

Yarn Bomb: Knit The Bridge Pittsburgh

This weekend the Andy Warhol bridge in Pittsburgh was closed on Saturday and Sunday to allow for a Yarn Bomb to take place.

Yarn Bomb, noun. A colorful way to greenly graffiti public space as it is easily removable and non-damaging.

This was an event noted to be "Knit the Bridge". I'd heard about it earlier this year and had been patiently waiting for it to arrive.

So of course, I checked the weather for 12 Aug; the day of the bridge re-opening so all could walk around to see the display of yarnwork. And what was in store? Rain. To adjust, I set my alarm an hour early so I could drive downtown to check out the talent.

Yes, me.

Luckily, I had a backup camera in my purse.

This just makes me want to knit and knit and knit and knit.

Yet again, I'm impressed with what an awesome place Pittsburgh is to live.

Life Sized Jenga

Vol 3 - Issue 16 of the newsletter. Hypothetical Situation.
What video game would you like to compete in, in real life? I’m not talking you sitting around with a game controller beating other people, I’m talking, you ARE Pac-man (Ms Pac Man?) and trying to eat as many pills as you can, all the while being chased by brightly colored ghosts.
Lesson learned, often things just ARE better when they're life sized.

Jenga Woes - Jenga Knees

Jenga Knees; noun. Knees/ankles that are covered in a mucky substance due to being on the ground intensely playing jenga.

Jenga Knees photo was not taken by me. Jenga knees photo was taken by Heather.

So this bar in lawrenceville

I bet they say, "get out. If you want to play counting crows, get out."

I like this bar.

I want to play counting crows there.

But I will sit quietly with my beer and behave.
