Last Photo-A-Day

These are my birthday earrings, my birthday ring, and my blogging computer. It's a celebration day because it's the last day of photo-a-day (although I'll probably do more). So cheers & happy Independence Day weekend.

Doors & Floors

Initially, I had taken the photo on the left with the hopes of doing a "rainbow week", meaning, one red photo, then one orange photo, a week of Roy G. Biv. Well, that didn't happen and now I'm nearly out of days in June. Instead, this is the door downstairs, and as a bonus, the right is an old picture of my little kitchen from this post.

Nick of time

Photo-a-day Day 28. Via cameraphone because my computer is dead and the plug is in my car. Hairy shrooms, 69$ at JLo's fish store.

Grill n Glory

Mmm peppers, olive oil dip, and a blue heron. We broke in the birthday grill this weekend. Delicious investment.

Boats & Boats

The Lincoln Harbor Yacht Club, where we sailed from on Friday night. My dress was entirely too short for the breezy club. I had one hand on my drink and one on my skirt at all times.

The view of NYC from the Hudson River. Went on a boat cruise last night with the boyfriend. The backdrop was so peaceful it almost seemed fake.

Hypothetical Situation of the Week: These four objects from Super Mario (original NES) are in front of you, in real life, not in the game. Which do you personally eat (almost like the Jefferson Airplane song…)?

A)    The Mushroom
B)     The Star
C)     The Fire Flower
D)    The Frog Suit

The Notebook. Photo-A-Day-Day 24

IMG_4569 The Notebook.

It was about ten years ago that the notebook was begun. I was in high school, and my friends and I passed this around, writing in it notes and stories. Our notes were our weekend plans; our stories were written piece by piece, each of us adding a twist to the plot schemes.

Classic stories include getting stuck in K-Mart overnight (Attention K-Mart Stalkers!), a kidnapping, a royal wedding, and many more. Not to mention the regular chitchat about Friday night's dance or an upcoming birthday.

Sunset in the Trees

The red sun beamed through the leaves. A pattern showed up on the bark. I found the contrast to be remarkable.

I'm Afraid to Take One

I still haven't gathered the courage to open the box to 'take one'. I don't know what's inside. I can't figure out if I won't open it due to superstition or if it is because I just like the mystery.

Baseball Snobs

"This is a baseball field, absolutely no soccer or other sports allowed without a permit." I'm curious about the basketball court rules, then. If it goes through the hoop, is it a foul ball?

Happy first day of summer, which begins at 1:16PM today. I wonder if that accounts for time zones. Will it be summer in NYC and spring in LA?

Cup-cake.

Yes, it's a whole box of cake mix. No, I am not a cake boss so it's a bit awkward. It's a cup-cake birthday cake for JLo's 25th yesterday.

Das Papa Day & JLo Birthday

Happy Father's Day to the best Dad (and granddads) ever! You've had this position for twenty-five-point-five years now, so  it's way beyond entry level, but I hope we keep it exciting for you. Cheers old man!

Photo-A-Day & Hypothetical-of-the-Week

Hypothetical Situation of the Week: GTL stands for a daily routine meaning Gym, Tan, Laundy. Using your initials, come up with a daily routine.

Best spot in town during rush hour! It was a breezy night, but very comfortable for a rooftop pale ale overlooking Times Square. I enjoyed an evening of dinner with Glorianne, a Gettysburg Happy Hour, and roaming the city with my Dad.

Bonus photo! I walked up to this mirrored window, smiled, clicked the camera... And promptly remembered the inside was a restaurant so people could see me. Great job, self. Brilliant.

Pulitzers on the Boardwalk (Photo-a-Day Day 16)

"The boardwalk was where all of NJ came together; where NJ for better of worse, met itself." - Junot Diaz, Pulitzer Prize winner. This is on the NJ boardwalk. I think this picture speaks for itself.

Anyway, up early today, in to work early today, out of work early today, NYC for the afternoon until tomorrow.

Ending the NYC photoblog

Finishing up all the photos I took last weekend of NYC... There were a ton. And I'm heading back tomorrow so there will probably be more for photo-a-day!

I appreciate that... No smoking, no littering, please love.

I think I'm soooo funny.

How thoughtful! It's almost as if my past self could predict a bad day. What a remedy!

Of course, the credit goes to Buy Olympia, for having such great products and for including a cool sticker in the box. They even wrapped the package!

And what did I buy? Curiosity killed the cat, you know. [I wish I could say I was a forever subscriber. I'm stuck collecting the impossible-to-find back issues.]

Renegade (Rainegade) Craft Fair

Saturday's Rainegade Renegade Craft Fair was a blast. Yeah, it was misting and a bit chilly. But the art was inspiring and even Jonaid had fun (shhh, you didn't hear that from me).

We came across the unique letter writing service, a fantastically spicy pulled pork sandwich, chalk maps (like the ones teachers pull down in front of a classroom), mystery brown bag goodies, and so many more exciting products. Jonaid bought me a delightful new bag from Namoo. He got a couple of sweet shirts. Such a blast!

Whew!!! And I must say it's so nice to be blogging again without a hangover. Sheesh. What a waste of a Sunday.

Photo-a-day Day 12

I could easily post a photo-a-day for the rest of the month (and then some) from just one day in Brooklyn. But I'll keep it simple by just having a few days with a ton of photos. Here's the farmer's flea market in Brooklyn on a rainy Saturday.

Brooklyn & Brews

Hypothetical Situation: You're a newscaster. What segment are you? It could be traditional (main anchor, weatherdude) or something creative.

Today I visited the Renegade Craft Fair. Jonaid and I just got back NYC and now we are off again to a birthday party - so this post will be quite brief.

Hello, I'm made of plants and can be composted. Weird but true. I love you so much, Brooklyn Brewery.

Blogger In Residence

Household residence, that is. I wish I could be a town Blogger-in-Residence. Anyway PhotoDay10

Jonaid remains one of the most fashion conscious men I know. When we go out he often looks better than I do. This is his Gatsby-esque closet of clothes.

Unfortunately, his shoe department is sorely lacking. Which is nice when I do laundry at his place - this doubles as a clothes rack!

That reminds me, Wednesday must be my neighbor's laundry day. I jog by their house on Wednesday and it always smells like laundy. It's probably creepy that I know that. Happy Weekend!

Stamps, Stickers, Business Cards

After going to several business meetings with tacky "Name - email - phone" handwritten on index cards for business cards, I decided I wanted to have something more professional. I would adore a set of letterpress cards, but after some research I realized it is so far out of my budget it is embarrassing. I decided to purchase a stamp set to make my own but it didn't turn out so great.

Well, if you must know, a picture of the final product is below. I kind of like the disarray but even with my best stamping skills it's unbearably unprofessional.

When I was in elementary school my friends and I had a rubber-stamp-club. I should dig those up. Maybe my Ma will find it and gift wrap it for me. She already did that with my "secret sticker collection" she found this year.

Hair of the Dog?

Turns out "Tea Leaf Green" is a band, not a brew, as I was so hoping when I walked in yesterday. A few weeks ago I had an incredible green tea pilsner (although it wasn't from here). Still, any beer at Triumph is delicious and it was an unexpected treat on a Tuesday.

[And for any of you beer drinkers: feel free to join Untappd! Search for me!]

Yard & Blog Cleanup

I found this sign posted on the garage side door. I wonder who else is using the lawn mower? One may apply the law of entropy by concluding if the mower is out of order that soon the lawn will also become out of order.

To dive back in the history capsule... I started this blog when I was in high school, sometime in year 2004. Visually it looked like this. Then one day in college I got self conscious, thought my old posts were too juvenile, and I deleted them. I saved them all on a floppy disk somewhere but for the life of me I cannot find that disk. I updated the blog layout; it then looked like this. That whole history is in more detail here.

Last fall I changed the layout yet again. Cleaned out some old posts (but saved them online this time!) and updated the name. The old title was "Live with Kinky Carinne", where Live = live, like a live radio show, not live, like I live in my house. There had been some controversy over that. Anyway I updated the name. I was getting a ton of traffic from people googling for porn.

A few months ago, I made more changes to where you see the current layout. I just am not satisfied. The first two designs lasted me six years, and in less than nine months I've changed it twice. Bear with me as I start making some updates again. I need to be happy with this. I want it to be done and for it to stay put. Lawn mowing the blog (with my broken mower. Good riddance).
